Exciting and innovative five-piece band Midnight Mahina hails from the south coast of Western Australia. The group is a wonderfully creative family friendly combination performing exclusively original music in their own distinctive style. They have been entertaining audiences in the southwest since 2000, through their live shows and the refreshing sound of their CDs - the self-titled Midnight Mahina released in 2001 and Odd Sock released in 2004. The band produce a warm, rich and energetic sound with an eclectic repertoire combining tastes of celtic, latin, classical, eastern european, calypso, funk, reggae and blues music. Midnight Mahina's unique style features full vocals with violin, flute and saxaphone harmonising on intricately constructed rythms and luscious melodies. This gives the group a driving big band sound that is enticing to all ages and makes dancing hard to resist! The group performs in concert venues, plays outdoor festivals or wineries, and particularly enjoys entertaining a young audience. Their sound has been described as "crisp and clear as a moonlit night on the cliffs overlooking the Southern Ocean." We feel you'll also be impressed with quality of sound and hope you enjoy the view! Midnight Mahina's CDs are available at selected outlets in the region or they can be purchased directly. Listen to a bit of Circus (800Kb mp3) from our first CD or Spirals (750Kb mp3) from our second CD for a short sample of the Midnight Mahina sound. |
